Well, I don't see the problem with a high level cap if there is the sidekick system. Sure, there will be elitist idiots who will brag about being level 20798, but just ignore them. Don't play with them. Enjoy the fact that they have no friends because they spend their whole life playing a computer game. The sidekick system will allow us all to play with our friends no matter what, which I think is most important.

The thing I am concerned about is the storyline. The storyline is what drew me into GW. When my brother gave me his buddy key and I started playing, that was what immersed me the most. Most MMOs don't have a strong storyline, or don't have one at all, which is why I don't really enjoy them. I know it's a bit premature to be too concerned about Anet giving up on this aspect, and I'm definitely not concerned at the moment. But it will be a deciding factor for me to get the game. Side quests are fun and all, but they're nothing compared to something that actually leads somewhere, that makes you feel like your character matters to the events happening to the rest of the world.

That's probably one of the best qualities of GW; The graphics look very nice and beautiful, but at the same time it is not very demanding on the system. This is only possible with many & many hours of hard work. So, thanks Anet.

Here is another thought on graphics. It would make sense for Anet to set a goal for 100% GW1 to GW2 game adoption, meaning that 100% of GW1 players will ideally be able to play GW2 with out spending too much effort on worrying about hardware upgrades. If this was true, then there is a good chance that GW2 will run even on the lowest end of systems that are running GW1 right now. However, this sounds like a huge challenge. But hey, We have been surprised by Anet in the past.

Since in the PC Gamer article they say specifically it will run on DX9 or 10, I think Guild Wars 2 will run on a variety of systems and scale accordingly.

Oh, and thanks Loviatar for the link!

The game is released in two years anyway. I'm sure by then you'll want to upgrade to something better. I know I will, and I only recently bought a new computer.

Tis' a shame that all the work on my characters will go to waste. Guess I have 1-2 years left to enjoy them.

I have a question in regards to GW2 and the Hall of Monuments.

If you create a character in GW2 and attach a GW character to it for spesific titles, and minipets, can that Hall of Monuments be added to after the fact?

eg.- You have a mesmer with Legendary Survivor, Skill Hunter and various other titles. You create a character in GW2 and attach this mesmer to the character. You still continue to play this mesmer in GW and aquire new titles for her.
Will these new achievements show up in the Hall of Monuments?

Sorry if this has already been asked.

a few things imo...
1) armor isn't wealth, nor does it neccessarily represent wealth since theoretically after buying it the person actually has less money. Therfore your "leetness uperclass" is only determined by the individual's perception. Having pretty armor is nice, but the fact that its the same stats as all else shows it doesn't contribute to a 1337 group unless you think that looking cool makes you "better." despite having fow armor i am no better than any player unless I prove it to myself. the armor doesn't make the man, but being stripped of it hurts too

2) the reason you transfer armor/customized weps and not gold is because those are technically untradeable, and if you can make them unsalveagable when going thro the transfer, then there is no worry of any GW2 economical downfall, only a bunch of new players and jealous peeps screeming about how "unfair" it is that we look cooler because we invested time into a specific aspect of gw1

3) its already been said, but minipets DO represent wealth as well, just as titles, fow armor, etc... all represent time into an aspect of gw that each person enjoys. To allow this pleasure to one who has an interest in minipets but deny those who worked for their fow armors just seems bias to me...

Default Solution to discrimination of levels achieved?

Perhaps grant titles to level milestones, up to say level 20. Such as Level 5 is a title, 10 is another, 15 and then 20, which is Grandmaster (or any designation ANet can create). Anything else beyond won't change your title, nor will pinging it beyond level 20 show to anyone else your either level 21 or 121. I don't mind the change to this aspect of Guild Wars so long as the main principle remains the same:
Your skill is your ability, not your immense amount of freetime to spend trying to eek out that .01% of more skill calculated by numbers to exceed another player who is just as good, if not better, than you are at actually playing. Chess is an excellent example of this, in my opinion. Your pieces are all equal, its the player behind them that makes them great.

And for those to go so far as to demand screenshots with sign-ups to elitist websites for some rediculous proof, they need more hobbies.

ok how about this.
mini pets and armor and weapons are all transferable.
all transfered things become untradable whether they are customized or not.
all transfered armor and weapons have minimum stats, just like the holiday event items. they're for looks only right? just like minipets. makes it fair.
this way all transfers are basically veteran rewards for appearance only.
mini pets, gold cape trim, and "replica" armor/weapons that have minimum stats. sounds fair right? minipets benefit everyone, weapon and armor skins for high-end pve players, and gold cape trim for high-end pvp players.

now, another subject.

I've decided I'm okay with the level cap as long as it doesn't take considerable grind to reach the top (like, say, everquest does). HOWEVER. They must not under any circumstances raise the level cap in an optional expansion. That sort of thing just kills the balance in the game.
As long as everyone playing has the same opportunity to advance, fine, raise your damn level cap up to whatever.

Its really disappointing to read that the characters won't transfer. I've read the excuses as to why I shouldn't care, but I do.

If ANet believes they're going to have a profitable game with GW2, I wish them luck. But, they'll be doing it without earning any more money from me. If I'm going to start a character over, I'll do it in a game that won't leave characters behind.

Default Customer Service

OPEN LETTER TO ARENANET:

I love Guild Wars. I have logged thousands of hours of gameplay. I've purchased each campaign and spent the extra money for the collectors editions. When the opportunity arose, I purchased extra character slots so I could make one of each, and I even bought the GotY upgrade. I've told my friends and family about this game. I've been a devout and raving fan.

When then, Anet, are you making me go out and buy some stupid magazine to find out what services you will be offering me? In any other industry, your customers would laugh in your face for such a blatant tactic. Such an arrogant method for squeazing more money out of your customer base.

I'm sure there are many reasons for the design and update decisions being made for the game, and I recognise that this is your business and you have to do what's best for your long-term success. However, you can't afford to lose site of the reason for your continued success. CUSTOMERS. Need I remind you that there are other MMO's out there? Be kind to your supporters.

Read the Kotaku article. It's free. You can read the summaries on Guru. They're free. Go on wiki. That's free.

Soon enough, lots of sites will have information about it. You could probably find it on all the major sites like IGN and Gamespy.

I think you should consider everything in PCGamer as early information for those who really can't wait. Everything comes in time.

Anyone who understands capital knows that objects of value are capital (wealth) too. Even if armour/weapons are customized they demostrate spending power. If you look at someone with obsidian armour, you aren't going to be thinking 'poor', are you?
